The Ink Factory, AMC and BBC’s Mini Series “The Little Drummer Girl” Wraps Filming in Greece

The Little Drummer Girl, the most prestigious international production recently produced in Greece, has completed filming after 24 shooting days. Both a thriller and a love story, the TV series weaves a complex tale of espionage and international intrigue, love and betrayal. It is based on the novel by legendary writer John le Carré and directed by highly-acclaimed Park Chan-wook (The Hand-maiden, Old Boy). Produced by The Ink Factory (The Night Manager, Hotel Artemis) and co-produced by BBC and AMC, The Little Drummer Girl stars Florence Pugh (Lady Macbeth), Alexander Skarsgård (Big Little Lies, True Blood, Tarzan) and Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals, Revolutionary Road, The Shape of Water). The series is being sold worldwide by Endeavor Content.

“It has been an incredible experience to film ‘The Little Drummer Girl’ in the very locations de-scribed in John le Carré’s book. The immense privilege of shooting at such historically and cultur-ally important places such as the Acropolis or Temple of Poseidon cannot be understated. Greece, as the birthplace of Western drama, offers filmmakers a canvas of unique resonance and, for me, it is the perfect place to tell the story of Charlie (Pugh)”, says director Park Chan-wook, describing his experience of filming in Greece.

“The variety and scope of filming locations available in Greece has made it the perfect place in which to bring ‘The Little Drummer Girl’ to life. We were able to shoot not only extraordinary scenes set in Greece, but scenes set in the Lebanon, Israel, Yugoslavia (as it then was) and Rome as well. The stunning locations we were able to choose would have justified coming to Greece under almost any circumstances, but on top of that, the generous support of numerous arms of government, and the highly-talented crew and support team at our wonderful partners Faliro House, has made the shoot one to remember and repeat”, notes executive producer and The Ink Factory co-CEO Simon Cornwell.

The production service company in Greece is Faliro House Productions S.A. The crew while film-ing in Greece consisted of 165 core Greek crew members and 98 crew members from the UK.

The Little Drummer Girl was shot in the following locations in Greece: Athens, Elefsina, Kinetta, the Acropolis and the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio. All Greek locations were used to showcase Greece/Athens, whereas Elefsina was used to represent Lebanon and Nikaia/Athens was used as Palestine.

The Hellenic Film Commission of the Greek Film Centre supported the production by facilitating the filming permits for the archaeological sites (Acropolis, Temple of Poseidon-Sounion) requested for filming.
