Greece welcomes Christopher Nolan for the filming of “The Odyssey”, a cinematic adaptation of Homer’s legendary Greek epic.

The Hellenic Film & Audiovisual Center-Creative Greece (HFAC), following the successful discussions with Universal Pictures and Syncopy, Inc., welcomes to Greece the filming of Christopher Nolan’s new production, “The Odyssey”.

HFAC – Creative Greece continues to support international productions in every way possible, bolstering Greece’s position as a premier global film destination. Through financial incentives, including a 40% cash rebate, Greece has invested over 140 million euros since 2019 to support both domestic and international film production.

Hellenic Film Commission, a Directorate of HFAC- Creative Greece, has cooperated with the production team of Universal Pictures at the very early stages of the project, as a primary contact point when filming in Greece providing valuable information, advice, guidance and facilitations.

Greece’s rise as a favored filming destination underscores its growing appeal to international filmmakers, driven by its rich historical heritage, diverse landscapes, and the expertise of its talented local film crews, making it the perfect setting for a wide range of projects.

The filming will take place across stunning locations in the Peloponnese region, including Nestor’s Cave, Voidokilia Beach, Almyrolaka Beach, Methoni Castle, and Acrocorinth. The Greek Ministry of Culture has granted filming authorization for March and April, with strict preservation conditions in place to protect the sites.
