The biblical epic series “House of David” which was filmed entirely in Greece, premieres on February 27th on Amazon Prime Video.

The series benefited from the country’s 40% cash rebate, a financial incentive provided by the Hellenic Film & Audiovisual Center-Creative Greece.

House of David is a production of The Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios in cooperation with Normadic Pictures, Argonauts Productions from Greece, Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate Television.

The series follows the journey of David, who rises from a teenage outcast to the King of Israel. Along the way, he confronts iconic challenges like defeating Goliath, navigating love and loss, all while striving to fulfill his ultimate destiny.

Filming for the first season took place in the summer of 2024 in the Attica and Peloponnese regions, with the second season set to begin production in winter 2025. The majority of the crew—over 600 professionals—were from Greece, contributing to various departments, including cinematography, art direction, costume design, makeup, production management, assistant directing, sound, visual effects, stunts, and camera and electrical work.

Director Jon Gunn shared, “Before deciding on Greece, we explored other countries. But Greece offered a strong economic incentive, a vibrant energy, and a commitment to developing its TV and film industry. What excites me is Greece’s emerging role as a growing entertainment hub, and I wanted to be a part of that journey.”
