A little over a month ago, the Production Designers Gathering wrapped up in Spetses!
10 Greek production designers, including film students, participated in the masterclasses with the support of the Hellenic Film Commission, in the context of the
Greek Film Centre’s policy for the development of human resources in the Greek audiovisual industry.
We asked some of them about their experience. Here’s what they had to say:
“The Gathering was one of the best experiences I’ve had so far. Being with people who understand and want to get to know you at such an idyllic place was something I hadn’t experienced before. All the beautiful people who were eager to openly share their knowledge and experience, confirmed to me that I am on the right path. Also, the whole experience reminded me of the fact that the place where I work is not my only option, but my experience here could open the door to a whole lot of new, greater opportunities. Personally, I received many positive comments on who I am and what I do, a confirmation that any talent I may have could take me places internationally. I am now more confident to explore the possibilities and for that I am grateful for this experience.”

“I was amazed by the participation of co-workers and students! Some of them came from very far for this and it was an amazing opportunity to meet each other and put a face to the name. Production Designers, no matter where they come from, what their budget is and how big of a team they have, face the same challenges everywhere. The sessions had to do with creativity, inspiration, teamwork and mental health in the workplace. In the evenings, after the sessions, we shared difficult, funny, amazing stories with each other. These stories are what makes us love what we do even more! I’m glad to have been there and cannot wait for the next one!”
