Light Houses

On steep capes, on rocky cliffs and at central ports, stand the imposing greek lighthouses that can be a background for cinematic representations that carry the element of marine life and sea voyage. Each lighthouse emits a distinct, strong and constant, light signal that indicates a specific sea area. Their form can be circular, square, octagonal or hexagonal. They can be individual as simple towers or parts of other buildings. There are 120 traditional lighthouses by stone in the greek network, the construction of which dates back to the period after the Greek Revolution of 1821, their classic form can highlight films of a historical character. Some of the beautiful greek lighthouses are: the lighthouse in Agios Theodoros of Kefalonia, the tower of which is 8 meters high and it was built during the English administration of the island, it was destroyed by an earthquake in the middle of the 20th century and rebuilt exactly as it was before. In the southernmost corner of Lefkada, at the area of Kavo Doukato, on the white rocks that carry a heavy history, stands the lighthouse Doukato as a breathtaking, cinematic setting that becomes even more idyllic at sunset.
